Tuesday, August 12th ~ Join us on the Betty Lou for their final season.  We begin with breakfast at another recommendation of Michael’s - The Pancake Café.  Then we enjoy two docent led tours at places I’ve never been - the UW Geology Museum and the Wisconsin Veterans Museum.  Then enjoy a Captain’s Appetizer Buffet and sail aboard the Betty Lou on Lake Mendota.  Space is limited.

Wednesday, September 17th ~ Explore the greater Green Bay area.     This full day begins with a tour of the Tug Boat Ludington, the lighthouse and firehouse in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.  Specifically designed for WWII in 1943 and acquired by the city in 1995.  Then off to enjoy a delicious lunch at Hagemister Park.  A quick jaunt down the road to Captains WalkWinery - shop or taste if you choose.  Or just around the corner explore the Automobile Gallery which currently features an exhibit of James Bond vehicles!  How cool!  But before we leave the area we will stop at Beernsten’s Chocolate.  I’ve never been to their Green Bay store. 

Lunch choose from …

1. Cheese Tortellini Carbonara with Chicken

2. Ultimate BLT with red onion, chipotle aioli, guacamole and cheddar cheese

3. Turkey Club Wrap with Swiss cheese, garlic herb tortilla and IPA aioli

Wednesday, October 8th ~ “Taste of Sheboygan”  In October of 2023 we enjoyed “Taste of Madison”.  It was a fantastic day enjoyed by fantastic people, and those fantastic people have asked me to do it again - so I AM!  This time we are going to the Sheboygan area and I am super excited.  Last time I didn’t have the room in my brochure to share the itinerary, but we had a great time anyway.  This time I’m purposely not giving you the itinerary.  Hopefully you will embrace the surprise and trust me!

Saturday, October 18th ~ “The Temptations & the Four Tops” at the Miller High Life Theater.  The Temptations formed in Detroit under the Motown Label.  In 1989 they were inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.  Credits include three songs listed as songs that “Shaped Rock & Roll”,  and Motown’s first act to win a Grammy Award. The Four Tops were also propelled to success under the Motown label.  Their polished style was different than  other groups because their lead vocal was a baritone.  The Four Tops were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and are ranked #79 on the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.

10:00 enjoy a delicious brunch at Riverview - Green Bay

1:30  quick break to stretch your legs at the Sand Point Lighthouse, enjoy a snack and the restroom

5:30 Arrive at Shepler’s Ferry in Mackinaw City

7:00 pm arrive at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island.  Get settled into your room.  There will be a dining room open if you would like a late night snack

 NOTE - we lose an hour with the time zone change

 Monday, September 29th

8:00 breakfast at Mission Point Resort

9:30 Historic Carriage ride and tour of Fort Mackinac.  From here it is a short 1/4 mile walk to the shopping district.  Enjoy some time to stroll, shop and just relax.

5:00 dinner at Yankee Rebel.  Choose from … Lake Huron Whitefish, Slow Roasted Prime Rib, Chicken Parmesan, Classic Pot Roast, or Zucchini Ravioli. 

After dinner choose to stay in town or stroll back to the resort and enjoy the evening there.  It is a 12 minute walk to the resort. 

Tuesday, September 30th

11:00 enjoy a carriage ride to iconic Grand Hotel for a delicious lunch.      The Grand Luncheon Experience is one-of-a-kind and will include several fresh salads, fresh seafood, assorted cheeses, fruit and a carvery station.     Expect a lavish dessert displayAttire for lunch is not as formal as what is expected for dinner. 

The remainder of the day is yours.  Again, explore the Grand Hotel and discover it’s history and splendor.  Relax by the water and let it sooth your spirit.  The walk back to Mission Point Resort is 24 minutes or use one of your taxi tickets. 

Wednesday, October 1st

10:00 depart resort / 10:30 arrive at Ferry / 11:30 arrive in Mackinaw City

Notes ~

  • This trip is more leisurely than most because      Mackinac Island does not offer many accommodation  for large groups.  This leaves more time to wander and explore as you choose.

  • Please dress for the weather and come prepared   with comfortable walking shoes.  The average high temperature is 60° and the average low is 49°.  Bring layers - you will need them on the water. 

  • Feel free to bring a plastic tote with lid to keep any purchases contained in the cargo bay of the bus, keeping in mind - the bus will NOT be with us on the island.

7:00 am depart St. Mary’s, Hales Corners

9:00 am tour the Joliet Prison.  Built in 1831, by 1878 housing over 2,000 inmates, well over capacity.  By 1905 calls were made to close the building, but it continued to house prisoners until 2002.   In 1980 famously used in the Blues Brothers movie. No bag policy - only camera’s allowed in

2:15 pm tour the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL.  A state of the art facility designed with exacting historical detail. 

4:15 check-in at the Abraham Lincoln Springfield, a Doubletree by Hilton.  Our home for the next two nights.   

5:45 walk to Maldaner’s for the Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show.  A hilarious, interactive who-dunnit? 

Dress code is business/dressy casual.  

Dinner choices ~ Chicken with Mushroom Ragu Sauce OR

Salmon with Beurre Blanc Sauce OR Morel Mushroom Pasta.   

9:00 walk back to our hotel. 

Wednesday, October 15th

6:30 to 8:30 breakfast buffet at the Doubletree by Hilton  

8:45 depart for a full day which will include our docent from

Springfield Walks & Tours.  Stops to include the Illinois State Capitol, Edwards Place, Lincoln’s Tomb (silence is required), Illinois State Military Museum and the Dana-Thomas Home-a Frank Lloyd Wright design. 

2:30 to 4:00 a bit of time to relax back at the hotel 

4:30 dinner at the iconic 66 Motor Heads.  Dinner choices ~ the Steering Wheel (a shaved Prime Rib Sandwich) OR Autumn Berry Chicken Salad served on a croissant OR Cruzing Club Melt with ham, turkey and bacon served on Texas Toast OR a Turkey Bacon Avocado Wrap.  

7:30 you may chose to join the group for Lincoln’s Ghost Tour or return to the hotel. A 90 minute, 10 block lantern lit walking tour that uses the Lincoln sites as the backdrop for strange and bizarre stories surrounding Lincoln’s life and his death

Thursday, October 16th

6:00 to 7:30 am breakfast buffet at the Doubletree 

7:30 load bags / 8:00 depart 

8:15 Ace Sign Company.  A collection of over 85 historic signs from Springfield and Route 66. 

9:30 tour Lincoln Home.  In 1861, Abraham  Lincoln left his home of 17 years - the only home he ever owned - to serve as the 16th President of the United States. 

12:30 to 4:00 pm arrive in Pontiac, IL.  Enjoy several hours to tour the Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum housing thousands of artifacts and memorabilia.  Your time could include a bit of shopping, mural hunting and/or two other museum options.

4:15 dinner at the Pontiac Family Kitchen. 

Our dinner buffet includes fried chicken and ribs, salad bar and dessert.   

9:15 return to St. Mary’s
