Just a bit of history here … I began Join Polly’s Jaunts in May of 2012. Previous to this I was the Active Older Adult Coordinator for the Southwest YMCA for ten years. In conjunction with a guiding board of 25 seniors from the Y, I planned and facilitated social events that shared information and entertainment, fundraising events and group travel.

This new phase of my life has allowed me to enjoy both theater and walking trips several times per month and meet SO MANY new people by working with groups on both a formal basis, such as St. Mary’s Young at Heart and the Senior Travel Club of Walworth County; but also on an informal basis, with retirement and Red Hat groups looking to connect 2-20 of its members for an occasional day away.

I continue to search for theaters that I have not had the opportunity to visit and have discovered some wonderful options both large and small. Small venues from the Cedarburg PAC where I enjoyed the High Kings performance to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day to the Citadel Theater in Lake Forest, Illinois, offer an intimate setting and great bang for your buck. But they don’t replace the large venues that can bring Broadway color, such as the Lyric Opera House, the Marcus Center or the Overture Center. And all the theaters in between, Drury Lane, Marriott Lincolnshire, Fireside, or the Palace Theater just to name a few. Long story short … I like variety!

The same with walking trips … Madison to Door County, Galena to LaCrosse, New Glarus to Milwaukee and beyond. There is much I’ve discovered, but so much more left to see. I invite you … please join me for the adventure!
